Everyone around me seems to have a different opinion on this, which is starting to make me feel like the unreasonable one, even though something about the whole setup makes my stomach turn every time I walk through his front door.
The Backstory

My fiancé, Marcus, and I have been together three years, engaged for six months. He owns a house with a spare room that used to be full of his gym equipment. About two months ago his ex, Renata, went through a bad breakup and needed somewhere to land while she looked for her own apartment.
He offered her the room without asking me first. I found out after her bags were already inside.
What “Temporary” Has Turned Into

Two months in, the gym equipment lives in the garage now and Renata’s things are fully unpacked in the guest room. She cooks most nights. She knows where everything in his kitchen belongs better than I do, because she’s the one who bought most of it years ago when they lived together.
Marcus says there’s nothing romantic going on and that he’s just being decent during a hard time. Every time I bring up a moving-out date, which I’ve tried at least four separate times now, he gets defensive fast.
The Text I Wasn’t Supposed to See
His phone lit up on the counter last week while he was in the shower. Renata: “Thank you for tonight. I forgot what it felt like to be taken care of like that.” It was tied to a dinner I never heard about, one that happened the same night I was at my sister’s baby shower.
I asked him about it directly. He said it was just dinner and that I was reading too much into one kind sentence from someone going through a rough patch.
Talking to My Mother

I called my mom because I needed someone outside the situation to tell me I wasn’t losing it. She didn’t soften anything. She said if my fiancé’s ex is living in our future home, cooking his dinner, and thanking him for being taken care of, the wedding is not what I should be worried about right now.
She’s not wrong. It just made the whole engagement feel a lot shakier than it did a week ago.
Where Things Stand Now

I gave Marcus two weeks, no more extensions, no more exceptions. He agreed, but told me I was overreacting to a text message, which is not the reassurance I was hoping for.
My ring has moved to a different finger for now. I’m not ready to call anything off. I’m also not ready to plan a wedding while his ex unpacks her spice rack in what’s supposed to be my kitchen.
Your Verdict?
Should I have asked her to leave the second “temporary” stopped meaning temporary, instead of setting a deadline this late? Would you have stayed with your fiancé while his ex was still down the hall?
I don’t think of myself as the jealous type. This whole thing is making me question that.
